Note to those who have already e-mailed me:  No, I’m not a pot user – really I don’t even like being around the smoke. However, I think it’s silly to pay taxes to fight a war against a plant which is less dangerous than alcohol, is a viable medical treatment for certain conditions, and could make us tons of money if we taxed it.

Would the legalization of marijuana in the United States be good for the environment?

Do I hear a resounding yes from the peanut gallery? Thought so. Beyond hyperbole and party favors the legalization of marijuana could actually benefit the environment.

    All great points for the legalization of Marijuana. I think the stigma against marijuana will change with the upcoming generations. Marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes. The environmental impact just adds more reasons for legalization. Legalization, like you said, would mean the production of a more organic and safe product, as well as putting a stop to the growing inside our National Forests, which cause so much damage. I applaud you for speaking out on a subject that so many people are afraid to talk about. If politicians had your bravery, we might already have legalization.
